Carey Smith is a clinical supervisor in the Brain Injury and Concussion Clinic (BrICC), where they supervise graduate students working with adults with traumatic brain injury. Carey has practiced as a speech language pathologist in a wide variety of medical settings, providing supervision to trainees at every level. They specialize in adults and medically complex populations. Carey is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in speech and hearing sciences with a research focus on voice and swallowing sciences and disorders. They published an article on culturally competent care in transgender voice therapy in 2020 and have presented twice at the American Speech-Language Hearing Association Convention (a third presentation cancelled due to COVID-19). They are a member of the Transgender Voice Initiative.
