Biography

Libby Sommer is the director of corporate responsibility at Bolt Threads, a materials innovation company known for its biomimetic spider silk and mycelium-based leather. Sommer began her career at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Design for the Environment Program, where she worked with cleaning, fragrance, electronics, and apparel companies on green chemistry innovations. After EPA, she led chemistry and environmental programs related to material sourcing and supply chains at Nike and later at Lululemon. She has a BS in mathematics from Randolph College, and an MA in energy and environmental analysis from Boston University.
