Statement

Sabrina Yunzhu Tao is a PhD candidate in the University of Oregon Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures. Her area of specialization include Hong Kong and Taiwan literature and film (especially the Cold War era), modern Chinese literature, film, music and popular culture, Sinophone and Chinese diaspora studies. Before starting her PhD, she attained her MA in English Literary Studies from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. After graduation she worked as a research assistant in Hong Kong Baptist University Academy of Film and conducted archival research on early Cantonese cinema, Hong Kong leftist literature and film. Her current research project is about the transnational circulation of cultural products between PRC, Hong Kong, and Southeast Asia in the early Cold War era.
