Research

Chelle is a Master's candidate. Her research focuses on the archaeology of underwater and coastal cultural heritage, specifically shipwrecks and treasure hunting in the Caribbean, and exploring the legal rights of ownership exerted over cultural patrimony and the legal implications of its possible repatriation. She is particularly interested in cultural resource management, cultural property law, museum curation, the interplay between law and archaeology, and governing public policy concerns. Her other interests include Middle Eastern archaeology, biological anthropology, archaeobotany, critical heritage studies, legal anthropology, paleopathology, intellectual property law, and archaeological ethics.
