Learning French has been a wonderful experience that has also helped me stand out in the competitive field of journalism. Last summer, I worked as a press and communications intern at the largest French diplomatic mission in the world, the Embassy of France in Washington D.C. During my internship at the embassy, I monitored multiple news outlets for information concerning French-American relations, informed the American public about French political issues and diplomatic goals, interviewed francophone diplomats and recipients of prestigious French national awards, and wrote articles for the embassy publication, "News From France." Now I am participating in the Department of State's Virtual Student Foreign Service internship with the Smithsonian Institution's Office of International Relations. Learning a second language can open doors to amazing opportunities!
