Dr. Estelle Chaussard is an Assistant Professor in the department of Earth Sciences of the University of Oregon. Her research focuses on the development and usage of space geodetic techniques to detect small movements of the Earth's surface in relation with natural hazards (landslides, volcanism, and seismic and aseismic crustal faulting) and with anthropogenic activities (groundwater pumping, mining, etc.). The general goal of her research is to reach a better quantitative understanding of physical processes operating in the Earth to improve hazard characterization and risk mitigation. Her research encompasses the fields of geodesy, geophysics, active tectonics, volcanology, hydrology, numerical modeling, and risk assessment.
