Research

Gennie Nguyen is a doctoral candidate in the Anthropology Department at the University of Oregon. Her M.A. project titled “Losing Everything for the Third Time” focused on the serial displacement of the Vietnamese American community in New Orleans during the war in Viet Nam and after Hurricane Katrina. Part of her M.A. work is published in an anthology titled Women of Katrina. Her current project for her dissertation examines serial displacement, home, and identity in Portland and Gresham, Oregon among those displaced from gentrification and immigrants and refugees.
