Statement

Heather is a doctoral student. Her research interests include civil rights and civil liberties, social inequality, and poverty law.

Heather received her J.D. from the University of Oregon, where her studies focused on constitutional law, criminal law, public interest law, and empirical legal studies. She also has a M.S. in conflict and dispute resolution. Before returning to graduate school, she worked for nonprofits advocating for civil rights and democracy reform. Heather received her B.A. from the University of Montana in sociology with a criminology emphasis.

Heather currently serves on the board of the American Civil Liberties Union of Oregon. She is also on the Civilian Review Board of the City of Eugene Police Auditor, and acts as its liaison to the Human Rights Commission. Heather plans to use her background in social science and law to conduct rigorous public interest research.
