Statement

Jessica Schultz currently serves as Managing Editor for Sociological Perspectives. Her research focuses on socio-demographic responses to natural hazards with an emphasis on hazard vulnerability and disaster policy outcomes. She has coauthored articles published in The American Sociologist, Population and Environment, Sociological Forum and Human Ecology Review. Her dissertation examines social and environmental consequences associated with flood response and floodplain development.

Before joining the sociology program, Jessica served as a Peace Corps volunteer and worked for several years as a high school teacher. She also holds a Master’s degree in education and Bachelor’s degrees in anthropology and social studies.
