Biography

A native speaker of American Sign Language, Larson's courses cover basic linguistic principles of ASL, as well as Deaf Culture and Community Studies. Her current projects are related to curriculum for teaching basic signs to pre-verbal Deaf, Hard of hearing and hearing infants and children. Jo Larson was selected to receive the 2002-03 UO Office of Multicultural Affairs Outstanding Faculty Award, presented by UO students to honor faculty members who have shown commitment to working with students of color, and dedication to increasing ethnic and racial diversity at the University of Oregon.
