Research

I study bonobo and chimpanzee socioecology and behavior in an effort to better understand the spectrum of factors that have shaped early human evolution. My research has focused on ranging behavior, territoriality, aggression, and tolerance and has led me to field work in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Senegal. Furthermore, I have looked at conservation issues including the effects of war on bonobo behavior as well as competition between primates and humans for forest resources.
