My work is empirically-driven and is concerned with the extent to which speakers operate by modeling the listeners' knowledge. I take the experimental approach to investigate how speakers keep track of old/given and new information when they tell and re-tell the same story to different listeners. More importantly, my work is a multi-modal study where I examine speakers' information tracking strategies through phonological shortening and reduction in co-speech gesture. Other than experimental work, I am also interested in sound change and variation in Standard/Central Thai.
