Tara’s research interests include the effects of market integration and climatic adaptation on health. She is specifically interested in how the nutrition transition and changing parasite loads contribute to the development of autoimmune disorders. Other interests include endocrine and cardiovascular health, psychosocial stress, skeletal biology and physical activity. She is involved with ongoing research among the Yakut of Siberia, as well as the Shuar Health and Life History Project.
