Biography

Andrea Coles-Bjerre is the faculty director of University of Oregon School of Law's Business Law Program. She writes and teaches in the field of bankruptcy, particularly Chapter 11 corporate reorganizations, often using insights from cognitive linguistics to critique legal rules and the process of judicial decision-making. Within the ABA’s Business Bankruptcy Committee, she is Co-Chair of the Bankruptcy Study and Policy Subcommittee and Vice Chair of the Avoiding Powers Subcommittee; and within the AALS she has been a member of the Executive Committee of the AALS Section on Law and Interpretation. Before joining Oregon Law, Coles-Bjerre was in private practice for six years, working as lead associate in numerous complex Chapter 11 matters at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy in New York City. Professor Coles-Bjerre earned her BA from Barnard College magna cum laude in English Literature and her JD from Brooklyn Law School.
