Profile

I'm a data science educator with a background in the ecology of plant communities. I did my doctorate studying the ways in which biotic and abiotic stresses shape the structure and trajectories of tropical forests. In 2020 I came to the University of Oregon as a postdoc with two appointments: with Lauren Hallett quantifying the effect of rainfall variation on the coexistence of native and invasive grasses in arid grasslands; with the (now gone) Data Science Initiative to develop undergraduate and graduate degree programs at the UO. I now work full-time in the UO's Data Science undergraduate major, teaching DSCI 102 and DSCI 311, as well as serving as the Director of Undergraduate Studies
