I'm a social historian especializing in the history of modern Peru and Latin America. I have written extensively on the history of slavery and abolition, crime and punishment, political imprisonment, intellectuals, print culture, and archives. I am currently working on two book projects, one on Intellectuals and Military Nationalism in Peru (1968-1975) and the other one on Latin American intellectuals and the Cuban revolution from 1959 to 1976. My recent publications include Alberto Flores Galindo. Utopía, historia y revolución (La Siniestra ensayos, 2020, co-authored with Charles Walker), Donde se amansan los guapos: las cárceles de Lima, 1850-1935 (Lima: Universidad del Pacífico, 2019), and Bibliotecas y cultura letrada en América Latina, co-edited with Ricardo Salvatore (Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, 2018).
