Biography

Chris Krabiel is the Associate Dean of Finance and Operations for the College of Education (COE). Chris also serves as an Assistant Vice Provost for Budget and Strategy in the Office of the Provost. As associate dean, he is the principal fiscal administrator for the College. Chris also coordinates COE operations too inclusive of facilities, eLearning support along with being the liaison to the University’s central support orgs. Chris also participates in the Colleges strategic operations and development, having coordinated, and implemented several COE strategic initiatives and development efforts.

As Assistant Vice Provost, he plays key roles throughout the University. He has served as interim Chief Information Officer for the University, interim Assistant Dean of Finance for a few colleges along with evaluating several strategic initiatives including university finance and research. Implementing analysis and forecasting at the University along with evaluating opportunities and challenges. The Acoustic Chamber for research is an example opportunity and challenge. The University was recently awarded $14.6M in funding to build and manage the Acoustic Chamber, a state collaboration.

Prior to joining the University of Oregon in 2015, Chris spent 25 years in finance and operations in the casino gaming, entertainment, and hospitality industry.   Serving in a variety of industry positions, SVP and General Manager, Chief Financial Officer and VP of Finance and Operations. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from California Lutheran University, an MBA from the University of Nevada Reno, and his CPA license in California.
