Biography

Joanna Guhit is a Clinical Supervisor in the University of Oregon Speech-Language-Hearing Center’s School-Age Specialty Clinic. Prior to joining the UO, she served as a pediatric speech-language pathologist in public school and private clinic settings. In the public schools, she led workshops and professional development opportunities focusing on social communication skills, complex communication needs, and speech sound disorders. Her primary areas of interest include evaluating and treating speech sound disorders, enhancing student engagement and the therapeutic alliance, and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration among school team members in order to accelerate student outcomes. She is also committed to learning about English-Tagalog bilingualism and encouraging increased BIPOC representation within the profession. In her work at the UO, she strives to guide graduate student clinicians as they utilize critical and creative thinking while developing meaningful, individualized treatment plans and supporting their clients’ communicative growth.
