Biography

Jessica Black is the Program Assistant for SOJC Portland and is responsible for coordinating internal and external gift-and grant-funded project logistics for the George S. Turnbull Portland Center and Agora Journalism Center programs. A main focus of her role is to provide seamless event and communication logistics, evaluate metrics and identify diverse areas of impact to reimagine the future of journalism and catalyze media innovation for public good.

Born-and-raised in Portland, Jessica is a UO graduate and lived abroad for several years before returning permanently. Since then, she has devoted her career to supporting the vibrancy of our state, and has worked extensively in nonprofits and small, grassroots organizations focused on education, environment, community development and civic engagement. A proud Portlander, Jessica an avid volunteer and outdoor-enthusiast, and is passionate about making positive change in the world.
