Biography

Hello. I'm the director of the Yamada Language Center (YLC) and an adjunct instructor in Language Teaching Studies. I've been a language teacher for 40 years, but lately most of my time is spent talking to, watching, mentoring, and advocating on behalf of teachers. YLC is a technology and pedagogy resource center for the 16 regularly taught languages at UO, in addition to being the home of the Self Study Language Program which offers 8 more per year. In LTS I teach courses that connect technology with innovative language teaching pedagogies like blended and flipped learning. Some of my campus service work includes: being the advisor for the Critical Language Scholarship, a board member for NILI and CASLS, and a founding member of the UO Language Council.
