Currently the Director of the School of Art + Design and Associate Dean of the College of Design at the University of Oregon, Laura Vandenburgh has taught drawing and painting in the UO Department of Art since 1998. She served as the Interim Dean of the College of Design from 2019-21 and Department Head from 2008-2014. In 2014, she received the UO Fund for Faculty Excellence Award, recognizing her accomplishments and contributions. Vandenburgh held previous academic appointments at Syracuse University and Hunter College, CUNY.

Her drawing-based work has been widely exhibited including venues in Germany, Canada, Seattle, New York and Portland, and has been supported by awards and residencies from Yaddo, the Ucross Foundation, Ford Family Foundation and the Oregon Arts Commission. Vandenburgh received her MFA from Hunter College, following a BS in Zoology and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees from the University of California at Davis.
