My primary interests include gender, sexuality, embodiment and discourse. My dissertation is a qualitative study relying on the collaborative potential of sociology and queer theory to examine the embodiment of hegemonic masculinity and its relationship to straight men’s sexual pleasure. Other areas of concentration include social movements, identities, disability studies, and interaction. In addition to research I am pursuing a graduate certificate in Women’s and Gender Studies and a pedagogy certificate through the Department of Sociology. My course experiences as sole instructor and as a teaching assistant include: Sex and Society, Introduction to Queer Studies, Sociological Theory, and Feminist Perspectives: Identity, Race, and Culture.
