Melissa Panter serves as the Manager of the Center for Career Planning and Professional Development (Career Center).  Prior to joining Oregon Law, Melissa worked for the Lane County Circuit Court for twenty-three years and brings to her position a wealth of experience and deep ties to the Oregon legal community.  She began her career in 1996 as a file clerk and later worked in various departments before transitioning to work as a Judicial Assistant.  Melissa served for over ten years as the Judicial Assistant to the Honorable Karsten Rasmussen, including six years supporting him in his role as Presiding Judge.  Following Judge Rasmussen’s retirement, Melissa assisted the Honorable Debra Velure.  In addition to managing busy court chambers and criminal and civil dockets, Melissa worked closely with judicial externs and law clerks, including many Oregon Law alumni.

Throughout her career, Melissa has developed strong professional relationships with judges, lawyers, and legal support staff around the state.  Melissa utilizes her skills and talents to advance the work of the Career Center and to enhance the support we offer to our JD students and alumni.
