Research

With an emphasis in archaeology, Dr. Jew is interested in archaeometric approaches to understanding questions related to prehistoric maritime, coastal, and island societies. He has worked in Easter Island (Rapa Nui), the Aleutians, Oregon, California, Alaska, and his current research focuses on California’s Channel Islands, Micronesia, and the Caribbean. His primary interests focus on paleoenvironmental reconstructions and understanding the dynamic complex nature between humans and their environments. Dr. Jew is also interested in stable isotopes, geochemistry, lithic analysis, chronometric dating, and quantitative methods.
