Roxi Thoren is a Professor in the Departments of Architecture and Landscape Architecture, Department Head in Landscape Architecture, and Director of the Fuller Center for Productive Landscapes. She served previously as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the College of Design, and she is currently serving on the Landscape Architecture Accreditation Board. She researches the integration of productivity in landscape architectural design, including a series of research and design projects around agriculture, forestry, and power. Thoren is the author of Landscapes of Change, listed by the ASLA as a 2014 Top Ten book in landscape architecture, and co-author of Farmscape: Designing the Productive Landscape. She has published in the Journal of Landscape Architecture, Landscape Review, Places Journal, Scenario Journal, and the Journal of Architectural Education, and she is currently writing a book on forestry as a design practice.

Thoren is a Fulbright Fellow (Iceland) and a Landscape Architecture Foundation Leadership and Innovation Fellow. She has received research and design awards from the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture, the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Landscape Architecture Foundation, and the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards.
