My areas of specialization include media, suicide, youth mental health, social psychology, qualitative methods, family, food, and sexuality. My Masters paper examined media representation of youth suicide in the media. I used qualitative content analysis in order to understand the relationship between media publications and teen suicide clusters. My comprehensive examination was in the areas of social psychology and family with a specialization in food socialization. My dissertation examines the household division of labor within polyamorous households. I have also studied pedagogy and was the recipient of the Dan Kimble Teaching Award in 2010
