Profile

My previous graduate work focused on improved home cook stove development programs in Nicaragua and analyzed the larger theoretical implications associated with greenhouse gas emissions trading. My environmental sociology research efforts have been to understand, and offer solutions to, the contradictions between our economic model in relation to ecological imperatives. I have taught courses on international environmental issues and cross-cultural communication. Other research interests include political economy, international development, ecology, social movements, rock climbing and carpentry. As an interdisciplinary environmental educator, I work as raft guide and sailboat skipper with the River House Outdoor Program.
