Biography

Dr. Cho is a Research Associate Professor at the University of Oregon's College of Education, where he provides guidance on data science initiatives for the Dean's Office. He also serves as Associate Vice Provost for Academic Data Analytics in the Office of the Provost, where he uses a research framework to study student and faculty barriers to success. His main areas of interest are in machine learning applications in policy decision-making, research design and evaluation, and reforms in higher education. He has published numerous papers on pathways to employment for community college students, as well as barriers to progression for these students, including a study on developmental education that has been cited nearly 1,600 times.

Prior to the University of Oregon, Dr. Cho was a senior researcher at Abt Associates and at the Community College Research Center at Teachers College, Columbia University. He has previously served as a lecturer in applied statistics at The George Washington University and in research writing at Columbia University.
